Drupal 7 is an official release now. After almost three years of hard work from the community, Drupal has achieved its seventh milestone.

From the Drupal.org release page, Drupal 7 offers:
- Vastly improved administrative user interface thanks to the D7UX movement
- Flexible content and custom fields
- Better visual presentation and theming with Render API
- Accessibility is greatly improved
- Image support is now included
- Automated code testing
- Improved database support
- Better distribution support
- Support for the Semantic Web through RDFa markup
- Over 850 Drupal 7 contributed modules have met their #d7cx pledges.
Here are the system requirements for Drupal 7:
You will need:
- Web Server: Apache (recommended), Nginx, Lighttpd, or Microsoft IIS
- Database: MySQL 5.0.15 and higher, PostgreSQL 8.3 and higher, or SQLite 3.x
- PHP: 5.2.4 and higher
- *Memory: 32MB (A site with a number of commonly used modules enabled may require 64 MB of memory or more.)
